Powder Springs Business Association Lunch Meeting
By: Six Cities

I arrived at the Ford Center around 11:20 a.m. I was greeted by Nancy Arnold who I paid my guest fee to and later purchased $1 raffle ticket for the door prize drawings. I was greeted by Connie Bullock, Association Past President with a warm welcome. I had the opportunity to network before taking my seat for the lunch meeting. Mother’s Finest provided the catered lunch which was 7-layer garden salad, fresh vegetable medley, baked chicken with rice, dinner roll and banana pudding for dessert. Selection of beverages included tea, coffee & water.

The meeting started promptly at noon. Connie led the meeting in place of current Association President, Mike Keese, as he was absent. Nancy Arnold gave the invocation then led the Pledge of Allegiance. New guests were introduced and allowed to give a 30 second elevator speech about their business. Connie introduced varoius chair members for their status update beginning with Lisa Harris, Members Chair, who explained about new ideas of how to get more members to the meetings. Lisa explained the raffle ticket process for the door prize drawings.

Barbara Hickey, Association Vice President, introduced the guest speaker, Richard Kirby. Richard talked about the social networking web site LinkedIn and how it can help with your business contacts. Next After Hours and Hospitality Chair, Joanne Marchetti,  discussed the event details and said that slots were still available for those interested in hosting an After Hours event at their business location. Following Joanne was Emily Lyles. Emily announced the golf tournament date of October 7 at Dogwood Golf Course. After Emily, Debra w/ ServPro spoke breifly about Career Day. An announcement about the new Assocation web site was made. The last annoucement was given by Barbara Hickey who made mention of the donation given to Mceachern High School on behalf of the Association.

The door prizes were raffled off. (I was one of several winners. I won the 5/3 Fifth Third Bank cold bag filled with goodies – Thank you!) There were a few final annoucements and the meeting was adjourned. I did some additional networking after the meeting was over. Overall the meeting was good. I would have liked to have seen more people at this meeting.
